— About Chinese Fengshui Art
In the world of ancient Chinese traditions, the practice of Feng Shui stands as a remarkable
testament to the enduring belief in the power of energy to create harmony between individuals
and their environments. The term ‘Feng Shui’, translating to ‘wind and water’, is a poetic nod to
the fluid and ever-evolving nature of life’s forces.
Rooted in a rich tapestry of beliefs since antiquity, Feng Shui has been revered for its ability to
channel cosmic ‘prana’ – the life energy, through the careful arrangement of landscapes, water
bodies, and architectural structures. This intricate practice goes beyond mere aesthetics,
weaving together the threads of astronomy, astrology, cosmology, geography, and topography
into a holistic understanding of the world.
As an artist deeply inspired by these ancient principles, recently my work seeks to embody the
very essence of traditional Chinese Feng Shui. Through my paintings, I endeavor to visualize
and convey the subtle yet powerful energy flows that Feng Shui represents. I also explore the
range from religious beliefs to folk consensus, and from cultural heritage to universally
recognized figurative depictions, all of which form the cornerstone of this ancient custom. The
horse and eagle are symbols of strength and speed for the Manchu people. In the Chinese Han
cultural tradition, the elephant is seen as ‘auspicious’, the roster signifies prosperity, and the
three sheep represent the opening of good fortune with happiness and good luck.
My artistic journey is not merely about creating visual representations; it’s about bridging cultural
understandings. For those unfamiliar with the intricacies of Chinese culture, interpreting the
energy dynamics depicted through Feng Shui can be challenging. Thus, my aim is to demystify
and convey the concept of Feng Shui in a manner that transcends cultural barriers. Through the
visual language of my paintings, I invite viewers to experience the invisible yet palpable feelings
of balance, harmony, and activity that Feng Shui embodies.
